What is Fierce Like Freyja?

For thousands of years, humans have looked to stories, symbols, myths, and the natural world to help us understand ourselves and our place within it. Fierce Like Freyja explores those connections through books, art, mythology, and meaningful reflection. Here you will find runes, stories that inspire curiosity, and creative works designed to help you reconnect with yourself.

This is a place where old wisdom continues to grow wild.

Why fierce?

The word fierce is often mistaken for anger or aggression. That isn’t what it means here. To me, fierce means living with courage, authenticity and conviction. It means protecting what matters. Speaking up when your voice is needed. Standing up for those who need a defender. Caring deeply about the natural world and helping preserve it for future generations. Choosing curiosity over fear. Compassion over indifference. Wonder over cynicism. Being fierce isn’t about being loud. It’s about refusing to lose the parts of yourself that make you fully alive. It’s also about standing in your strength.

Why Freyja?

Of all the figures in Norse mythology, Freyja has always resonated with me most deeply. She is strong without losing her tenderness. She is independent, yet compassionate. She is associate with love, beauty, war, magic, nature, & courage—qualities that continue to inspire me to this day.

Rather than seeing mythology as something locked in the past, I see these stories as living reminders of important, timeless qualities that we can cultivate within ourselves.

For me, Freyja represents the courage to live authentically, to remain curious, & to walk through the world with both kindness & strength.
